Besides the great range, the Rivian R1T also comes with a number of other useful features. It offers an All-Purpose mode, a Battery pack, and a trim that's ideal for exploring your surroundings.
All-Purpose mode
Despite being a pickup truck, the Rivian R1T has the capabilities to perform high-speed runs on a dirt track. This electric vehicle is also equipped with torque-vectoring capabilities. Unlike traditional vehicles that use clutches, the R1T delivers power to each wheel independently.
The R1T has eight-drive modes, which change the way the electric truck behaves. These modes adjust the suspension, all-wheel-drive system, and the throttle pedal response. Each mode is designed for a specific driving task, such as off-roading or on-road driving. You can toggle each mode to get the desired effect.
All-Purpose is the default mode for everyday driving. In this mode, the suspension is raised to a standard ride height of 11.9 inches. At freeway speeds, the suspension lowers to 10.5 inches, to reduce drag. It also includes standard regenerative braking.
Sport mode increases throttle responsiveness, stiffens the suspension, and backs off the stability control. It also unlocks four-wheel drifts. This mode has a higher level of regenerative braking than Off-Road Rock Crawl.
Conserve mode lowers the ride height by a few inches, prioritizes front motors, and uses high regenerative braking. It's designed for efficiency, and also offers a soft ride quality.
Off-Road Rock Crawl is a more extreme off-roading mode that uses heavy regenerative braking, a higher suspension set, and a bias towards the rear axle. It also provides maximum articulation and grip on the wheels.
The Rivian R1T has eight drive modes. These modes change the way the electric truck behaves, including off-roading, on-road driving, and all-purpose driving. Each mode can be used in conjunction with the other, and you can adjust the air suspension and torque to achieve the desired effect. The full list of driving modes can be found in the owner's manual.
The Rivian R1T's four motors produce 413 pounds-feet of torque. This helps the pickup accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds. The battery can handle tough conditions, and you can expect to drive around 300 miles on a charge.
The Rivian R1T's air suspension can be adjusted in each drive mode. The air suspension can be set to Low, Standard, or High.
Explore trim
Initially, Rivian offered two trim levels for the R1S SUV. The first, called "Explore" was the entry-level package. The second, "Adventure," was the higher-priced trim. Previously, the Explore model had a starting price of $67,500, while the Adventure model had a starting price of $73,000.
Rivian's official support document says that demand for the base trims of the R1S has been low. The company claims that the vast majority of customers have chosen the Adventure trim. However, the company has reported production issues.
In order to streamline production and avoid supply chain problems, Rivian has eliminated the Explore trim for R1T pickup trucks. As a result, customers can still pre-order the R1T, but they will no longer be able to reserve the Explore trim. This includes customers who have already made binding contracts with Rivian. To receive a full refund, they must cancel their pre-order by September 16.
The company has also told its shareholders that there were nearly 98,000 orders for the R1T pickup in the United States and Canada. While the number may seem low, it's actually quite high.
Rivian hasn't delivered any vehicles to customers that had reserved the Explore trim. According to the company, there are currently "a lot of people on the waiting list." Consequently, the company is going to cut down on production of the Explore trim. In addition to removing it, Rivian has changed its online configurator. The new one will go live on November 23. For pre-orders, the configuration will be available for customers by November 16.
Rivian is also giving customers the option to upgrade to the Adventure package. This option will cost $2,000. The $2,000 Off-Road Upgrade comes with an in-bed air compressor, reinforced underbody shield, and two front tow hooks. The upgrade is also available with a larger battery pack, which can be purchased for an additional $10,000. This adds 600 to 800 miles of range.
The company has notified affected customers in an email. In addition, they've said that they will refund any non-refundable deposits. Ultimately, Rivian plans to deliver more EVs quickly. Hopefully, this will help them stay in compliance with the revised EV tax credit rules.
Battery pack options
Depending on the size of the battery pack you choose, the R1T can go from 260 to 400+ miles on a single charge. Rivian offers three different battery packs for its R1T pickup truck. The standard battery pack offers a range of 500 kilometers, while the larger "Max" pack can extend the driving range to more than 400 miles. Alternatively, you can opt for the small battery pack that will give you 314 miles of range on a single charge.
The battery pack in the R1T is comprised of a 135 kwh pack with nine modules. It's powered by a dual-stack battery system that uses two layers of 21700 cylindrical cells. The cells are supplied by Samsung SDI. The cell's cooling plate is inserted in the middle of each module.
The largest battery pack offered by Rivian is the "Max." It's a 650-kilometre version with a range of over 400 miles. This battery option will be offered in 2023, while the medium and small packs will be available in 2022. Approximately 20% of pre-orders for the R1T have the Max battery.
In a letter sent to shareholders in Q4 of 2021, Rivian said it plans to use nickel-free batteries in its future electric vehicles. It also indicated that it's developing an 800V charging architecture for its vehicles.
The company has also revealed that it plans to install 3,500 DC fast chargers at 600 locations nationwide. The company has not yet determined where it'll build its second production facility.
For now, Rivian is targeting a fall 2021 launch for the R1T. It's a brand new model in a new segment. The company says the electric truck will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just three seconds. It's capable of towing 11,000 pounds, when equipped properly.
In addition to its lithium-ion battery, the R1T offers several other features, including an AWD system, a gear tunnel, and a gear tunnel. It's also available with an Off-Road Recovery Kit for $600. It comes equipped with all-weather floormats, reinforced underbody shields, and two front tow hooks.
The R1T is not only an all-electric pickup truck, but it's an all-electric SUV as well. The company has an R1S package for its SUV. This model comes with an EPA-rated range of 316 miles.
Range
Whether you are looking for a vehicle that can carry you to the next town, or an all-terrain pickup truck that can tackle the roughest terrain, the Rivian R1T range is just what you need. It is the world's first all-electric adventure pickup truck. And the batteries are big. And the company plans to add a lot more miles to its range in the future.
The Rivian R1T range is rated to 314 miles, but that could be expanded to as much as 400 miles. And if you want to increase the range even more, you can opt for the Max Pack. The battery is not yet available for shipments, but the company says that it will deliver more than 400 miles of range. But you will have to wait until 2024 to get it.
The Rivian R1T has a quad-motor AWD system that will give you exceptional traction on all roads, including mud, snow and dirt. The quad-motor system gives each wheel a separate power source, allowing each wheel to be driven independently.
There are three different battery packs that can be used to power the R1T. The largest is a 180-kWh battery pack. The smaller 250-mile pack will also be available. And the entry-level versions of the R1T will be equipped with a dual-motor set-up.
In addition to the large batteries, the R1T has a large display that shows how much energy is being consumed and how much buffer space is left. It can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. And the interior is built to withstand the rigors of off-road driving. There are also 120V outlets, Bluetooth pairing and an all-glass panoramic roof.
The fully-specced version of the Rivian R1T costs $91,800 in the US, and comes with a host of other upgrades. Among them is the Adventure Pack, which includes off-road upgrades such as an off-road driving upgrade and four-wheel drive. It also includes a premium interior and 20-inch all-terrain wheels. The price includes a $7,500 federal tax credit.
The Rivian R1T is available in four versions, each of which is fitted with a different powertrain. The entry-level models will be equipped with a dual-motor system, while the range-topping model will come with a quad-motor set-up.
